What exactly is relationship insecurity?

In a relationship, insecurity comes in when you’re unsure and unconfident about the relationship.

Insecurity in a relationship can be caused by a lack of understanding or an assumption on both parties about what is important to the other person. It can also stem from unresolved feelings from the past.

So, how can you help protect your partner’s insecurity? In as much as it’s not in the partner’s capacity to dictate to you who you should be friends with or how frequently you should relate to a particular person, especially when it involves the opposite sex.

Knowing that it is your duty to protect their insecurities requires you to reduce the amount of communication you have with the opposite sex and to set healthy boundaries so that your partner has no reason to suspect something extra is happening when there is nothing there.

Since you are intelligent, so you should be able to discern when a particular friendship poses a real risk to your happy relationship.

You will have to make a lot of sacrifices in order to have a healthy relationship. While being single offers freedom, being in a relationship or getting married also imposes limitations.

If you are not willing to give up your freedom to do what you want when you want, and how you want, then I’m afraid relationships and marriage are not for you.

As soon as you decide to date someone, there are certain things you must give up.

Living and acting like you are single when in a relationship is not possible. Because this is what makes so many people feel insecure.

Therefore, you should actively guard that aspect of your mate. Let’s not pretend we’re not human by treating each other like we’re less than humans.

If you have a best friend of the opposite gender and feel like you can’t live without them, you should probably start dating. If that’s not possible, then you need to sit your ass down and focus on the right person instead.

If you’re more interested in your best friend than your partner, your spouse won’t feel loved or safe. Even you yourself won’t if you are in their shoes.

That’s why it’s important to watch how you act around others, especially close friends of the opposite gender, and how you treat your spouse to avoid giving them any reason to feel insecure about themselves.
